Monday, I was a judge at the Towson University Battle of the Bands. I’m very opinionated but it’s still kinda hard – being in a band myself and having played in a battle of the bands – to give bands points, knowing your decision will effect who wins. It was cool though. The bands were outstanding! All put on great performances. Halfway Broken won! I think that’s really cool. I was really impressed with Phatback, too. They were a four piece – Vocals, Keys, Guitars, Drums. They had a very Philly/Okay Player type style, which is very different for our scene in Baltimore. The vocals, lyrics, and music were all awesome. Adelphi had really tight vocals/harmonies and a ton of energy on stage. I met some really cool people that night as well and got to chill with Sydney, Fil, and Greg.
Last night… Tim Kaye at the Talking Head! If you haven’t seen him play – either solo or with his band, you really don’t know what you’re missing. Seriously. He’s an amazing singer/pianist/guitarist. I got to hang out with the Aarons, Syeira, Bryan, and glittaChris.
Well, I’ve been pretty sick the past couple of weeks. I am feeling a lot better, though still sick. I don’t care about that or the fact that it’s snowing, I’m going out tonight! If anyone’s going to see Bleak December at Recher Theatre tonight, I’ll see you there. And before hand, I’m going to MissionSpace’s Art opening party.
