This is a slash. A “regular” slash or a forward slash.
So bands, at your next show, when you shout out your link to the audience, it’s not “myspace dot com backslash myband”. It’s “myspace dot com slash myband” (or forward slash if you want). But it’s not a backslash. I understand the word “backslash” sounds cooler for some reason, but it’s not correct.
Even radio commercials for products are now advertising their links as a backslash when it’s not.
